Well before the dawn of social media, this sentiment was my motivation for capturing (on film) what I saw on backcountry travels around the American West. Today, I express it (digitally) as a freelance nature and food photographer.

A former NASA programmer, I received my B.S. in engineering from Caltech and a Ph.D. in geology from Cornell University. I write the food blog use real butter. I call the Rocky Mountains of Colorado my home and spend countless hours in the high country (on foot, bike, skis, or paddle board) with an astrophysicist and two dogs.
